Riverside, Ca- On Saturday May 23, 2004 at
about 2:09 A.M. Riverside Police Officers responded to 11800 Magnolia after
receiving a call about 5 Hispanic males armed with baseball bats and a knife
having robbed the victim. At 2:22 A.M. Officers Angulo and Fast located the
getaway vehicle driving from the area. After having another unit respond to
assist, they tried to stop them. The vehicle fled from the officers and a
pursuit ensued. The pursuit lasted approximately 10 minutes and reached speeds
of 90 miles per hour ending when the driver failed to negotiate a turn and
struck a light pole.
Six suspects were detained, four juveniles and two adults. Two of the juveniles
were identified by the victim as being involved in the robbery and they were
arrested for Robbery. One juvenile was the driver during the pursuit and was
arrested for Felony Evading and Robbery. Two adults in the vehicle were
identified as Steven Arevalos, 20 and Fernando Gonzalez, 19 both of Riverside
and were arrested and booked for Robbery.
