Riverside, Ca- On Thursday May 27, 2004 the Riverside Police Department conducted a “John Program” in the area of University and Chicago in the City of Riverside. Members of the Vice Unit, University of California Police Department and the University Neighborhood Enforcement Team conducted the operation that targeted subjects who solicit prostitutes for sex. Male subjects contacted and solicited an under cover female police officer believing she was a prostitute.
The program lasted approximately six hours
and resulted in the arrests of ten subjects. All of the subjects were cited and
released on prostitution related charges. The Riverside Police Department
considers prostitution a quality of life issue and will continue to actively
address this issue. This program is part of an on going investigation and will
continue on a regular basis.
