Riverside, Ca-
On 10/31/04, at 2135 hours, a Riverside police
officer came upon a major injury accident that had just occurred on Riverwalk
Drive east of Sierra Vista Avenue. Ramon Rios, an 18-year-old Riverside
resident, was driving a 1995 Honda Civic eastbound on Riverwalk. The vehicle
entered a curve in the roadway at a high rate of speed, went out of control, and
struck a street light pole. There were three passengers in the vehicle and one
of the passengers was ejected. Two of the passengers were transported to
Riverside Community Hospital with major injuries. The driver and the other
passenger were transported to Riverside County Regional Medical Center with
moderate injuries. The preliminary investigation at the scene indicates that
alcohol may have been a factor in this collision.
The Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the accident.
