Riverside, Ca- On Thursday November 4, at
about 7:55 PM, Riverside Police officers responded to the area of Alessandro
Boulevard and Glenhaven Avenue to investigate reports of an injury traffic
collision. Upon arrival officers located a 1999 Chevy Cavalier at its point of
rest on the east sidewalk of Alessandro Boulevard.
The preliminary investigation revealed the Chevy was traveling northbound on
Alessandro Boulevard when it suddenly veered to the right and struck the east
curb. The vehicle traveled a short distance along the sidewalk and ultimately
collided with a concrete light standard. The light standard was sheered off at
the base and collapsed on top of the car.
The driver, Hans Lemky, 28 years old from Riverside, remained trapped in the
vehicle due to the position of the light standard. Riverside Fire Department
personnel responded and attempted to extricate the male driver, who was
subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene due to his sustained injuries.
The Riverside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team responded
and is investigating the incident.
