Despondent male threatens suicide/causes freeway closure

Riverside, Ca-  On Wednesday, September 29, 2004, at about 12:54 pm a Moreno Valley man, despondent over personal problems, threatened to jump from the El Cerrito over-crossing at the 215 Freeway. Officers of the Riverside Police Department and the California Highway Patrol closed down the affected freeway and side streets for approximately 40 minutes, for the public safety.

Riverside Police Department negotiators came to the scene and, after brief negotiations with the subject, he was taken into custody voluntarily and transported to a psychological evaluation facility for treatment.
