Pedestrian fatality collision
Riverside, Ca- Riverside Police Department Traffic Investigators responded to the scene of a pedestrian-vehicle
collision at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 11, 2006, in the 9300-block of Wood Road, in front of Martin Luther King High School.
The victim, a 15-year-old Riverside female and MLK student, subsequently died of her injuries.
According to witnesses, the girl and a male companion dashed across Wood Road. The boy crossed the street completely but the
girl made a stop midway where a northbound vehicle, preparing to make a left-hand turn into the school, obscured her. When
the girl continued, witnesses said, she dashed directly in the path of a northbound Ford F-350 truck, which was hauling a
loaded horse trailer at the time. The adult female driver, from Riverside, was unable to stop.
The collision was witnessed by a small number of school parents and students.
The victim was transported to Riverside County Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at approximately
3:30 p.m. Charges are not anticipated.
