Police Patrol Car Collides with Fire Hydrant

Riverside, Ca- On August 16, 2006, at approximately 2:27 AM, a Riverside police officer riding alone was on routine patrol in the area of Trautwein Rd. and Van Buren Blvd. when she became involved in a traffic collision. The officer’s patrol car apparently veered off of the road and collided with a fire hydrant and a bus bench before coming to rest in the middle of the street. The collision caused major damage to the police patrol car.

No other vehicles were involved and the officer complained of minor injury. No other persons were injured. The Riverside City Water Department responded to turn off the water valve due to the large volume of water that was being discharged from the water line.

The cause of the accident and the circumstances around it are currently under investigation by the Riverside Police Department.
