High school booster arrested for embezzlement

Riverside, Ca- The vice president of a high school booster club was arrested Monday, August 21, 2006, on suspicion of embezzling more than $35,000 from a nonprofit fundraising corporation formed to support student athletics.

Karyn DORSEY, 42, an at-home parent, took her position on the board of the Poly High School booster club, Orange & Green, Inc., in February 2006.

Dorsey took steps to circumvent the organization’s financial safeguards and, in June, allegedly began signing checks from the nonprofit’s accounts into her personal bank account. Dorsey also used a forged check to make a $16,000 payment on a Las Vegas timeshare.

Steps are being taken to recover all of the funds belonging to Orange & Green Inc.
