Riverside, Ca- On December 4, 2006 at 1:08 am, officers of the Riverside Police Department responded to a major injury traffic collision on Jurupa east of Tower. Officers arrived and found that a 1988 Jeep Comanche pick-up, traveling eastbound Jurupa, collided with an unoccupied 1993 Plymouth Voyager van, parked at the south curb. Both vehicles had major damage.
Members of the Riverside Fire Department arrived and treated the 18-year-old male driver along with his 16 and 17-year-old male passengers. The driver and 17-year old were taken by ambulance to Riverside Community Hospital with serious injuries. The 16-year old was taken to RCRMC with minor injuries.
The preliminary investigation revealed the driver was under the influence of alcohol. No charges were filed pending results of a blood alcohol test.
The Riverside Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) responded to the scene and the collision is under investigation.
