Fatal Double Shooting

Riverside, Ca- On Friday, December 8, 2006, at approximately 9:33 p.m., Riverside Police Department officers were dispatched to the Stater Bros Market, which is located at 2861 Mary St., after a caller said they heard the sounds of gunshots coming from the area of the store’s parking lot.

Officers arrived and discovered two adults lying on the sidewalk of Lincoln St., east of Mary St., both were suffering from gunshot wounds. American Medical Response paramedics arrived and treated both victims. One victim, a 19-year-old female, was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics. The other victim, a 24-year-old male, was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in very critical condition.

According to witnesses in the area, the sounds of an argument had preceded the sounds of the gunshots. Witnesses also said that several Hispanic males wearing white T shirts and baggie pants were seen leaving the area on foot shortly after the shots were heard. No further information is available at this time and the investigation is currently ongoing by homicide detectives.

The identity of the deceased victim is not being released at this time pending notification of relatives by the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.
