Car-to-Car Double Homicide
Riverside, Ca- The Riverside Police Department is
investigating a fatal car-to-car shooting that occurred on the eastbound lanes
of Highway 91 east of Madison St., Riverside, about 8 p.m., Sunday January 22,
2006.
Two men in a car were killed and a third man, the driver, was injured when the
driver of a passing vehicle fired several shots on the 91 Freeway in Riverside.
A white 1984 BMW sedan, occupied by four Hispanic males in their mid-twenties,
was traveling eastbound on Highway 91 east of Madison Street when a large
light-colored sedan pulled alongside. Preliminary investigation indicates that
the driver of the second car, described by the victims as a black adult male,
opened fire. Three of the occupants were struck, two of them fatally. A fourth
passenger was uninjured.
None of the vehicle occupants appears to be local; the incident does not appear
to be gang-related. No names have been released at this time.
The wounded driver exited the freeway at the Arlington Avenue exit. One of the
occupants called for help from a gas station at Arlington and Jane Street. One
of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene; the other was pronounced dead
at Riverside Community Hospital. The driver was also treated at RCH.
The victims said the shots came from a car occupied by one black male and one
black female, and that the male driver did the shooting.
Eastbound traffic on Highway 91 was reduced to one lane until midnight as
investigators searched for evidence.
Anyone with information regarding this double murder is urged to call Detective
Mike Medici at (951) 320-8049.
