Attempted homicide; shots fired
Riverside, Ca- Riverside Police Department responded to a call of shots fired in an apparent gang-related altercation
late Wednesday morning, July 12, 2006, near the corner of Eleventh and Mesa streets.
According to witnesses, two young Hispanic males on bicycles approached a young black male pedestrian at about 11:35 a.m.,
shouting gang slogans followed by a single gunshot fired. The victim was not injured. The two suspects fled the scene.
While en route to the shooting location, an officer spotted two possible suspects near an alley on Ottawa Avenue between University
Avenue and Seventh Street. The two suspects separated. Arrested was one 17-year-old Hispanic male, believed to be the shooter in the
incident. He was booked into Riverside County Juvenile Hall on charges of attempted homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, possession
of narcotics and added gang enhancements.
The remaining suspect at –large is described as a Hispanic male, about 17 years old, 5’5”, medium build, last seen wearing a white
t-shirt and black pants and riding a chrome-colored BMX-style bicycle.
