Suspect identified in shooting of Nigerian visitor
Riverside, Ca- Riverside Police Department investigators have identified the suspected shooter in the August 6, 2005 University
Avenue shooting in which an innocent newly-arrived visitor originally from Nigeria was shot in the head.
An arrest warrant for the attempted murder
has been issued for the suspected gunman, David Anthony RODRIGUEZ, 20 of Riverside (Click image for larger picture). Rodriguez is currently in Corcoran
State Prison, on unrelated charges. Previously arrested was Jose Enrique MARTINEZ, 27 of Riverside, for accessory after the fact. Allegedly Rodriguez fired a weapon, while at the Chevron gas
station at University Avenue and Victoria Avenue.
The victim, Edward Nwajagu 44, who lived in Oklahoma City, was in Riverside with a group of Nigerians
to attend meetings about combating gang violence. Nwajagu and his companions were in a car leaving the gas station when the gun shots erupted, one of which
struck Nwajagu in the head. Nwajagu remains in grave condition, on life support.
