Fatal Traffic Collision Vehicle vs Palm Tree

Riverside, Ca- Today at approximately 4:48 am, a 2006 Dodge Charger was traveling in excess of 100 mph E/B on Arlington Avenue from Victoria. The vehicle lost traction and slid across the roadway, over the center median and into a palm tree, splitting the car in half. The driver, a 19-year-old Riverside resident, was ejected from the vehicle and landed on the W/B roadway edge.

A witness called 911 and members of the Riverside Fire and Police Departments responded to the scene. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene from multiple traumatic injuries.

Arlington Avenue was closed in both directions until 9:00am.

The Riverside Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) responded to the scene and the collision is under investigation.
