DUI Checkpoint Announced

Riverside, Ca- On Friday, September 22, 2006, the Riverside Police Department will conduct a checkpoint for Driving Under the Influence (DUI). In addition to checking for impaired drivers, officers will be inspecting vehicles to determine if they have been illegally equipped for street racing. We will also be checking vehicles to determine if children passing through the checkpoint are properly utilizing child restraint systems. The checkpoint will be set up on Van Buren Boulevard in the Arlington area between the hours of 6 PM and 12 midnight.

During the first nine months of 2006, the City of Riverside has experienced six (6) DUI-related traffic fatalities. We encourage everyone to use a designated driver and not drink and drive.

Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the Business, Transportation and Housing Agency.
