Suspicious Item Riverside, Ca- On Tuesday, February 13, 2007, at approximately 11:00 a.m., Riverside Police Department officers were dispatched to the 3700 block of Jurupa Avenue after a citizen found an item they suspected was a pipe bomb. The citizen described the item as being a metal pipe, approximately six inches in length with caps on both ends. Officers arrived on scene and for the public’s safety established a safety perimeter. Traffic was shut down on Jurupa Avenue between Magnolia and Riverside Avenues for a duration of three hours. The Riverside Police Department’s Technical Services Unit responded to the scene and conducted a remote examination of the object. It was later determined that the object was not an improvised device but an inert object, possibly a metal piece of construction equipment. |
