Shooting near downtown Riverside Riverside, Ca- Riverside Police are investigating a shooting that occurred in the 3800-block of Locust Street near University Avenue, in which one adult male sustained a non-life threatening shotgun wound. The shooting occurred at about 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 18. According to initial investigation, one of two brothers had had a mountain bike stolen recently. The owner spotted the missing bicycle at a business establishment approximately two blocks east of his residence. Together with a younger brother, the owner recovered his mountain bike. A verbal confrontation ensued with the person in possession of the bike at the time. The brothers were followed to their residence, at the corner of University and Locust, by four persons in a white sedan. The confrontation continued at the residence. At some point, the younger brother went into the house and returned with a shotgun. One of the passengers in the vehicle, alleged to have been threatening the older brother, was shot in the lower abdomen. Riverside Police and Fire immediately responded. The scene was contained; the weapon was recovered and several persons are being questioned. The shooting victim was taken by AMR ambulance to Riverside Community Hospital, where he is in surgery. There are no arrests at this time. The investigation continues. |
