Homicide at restaurant

Riverside, Ca- On July 28, 2007, at about 6:15 p.m., a distraught female caller reported a shooting at the Mi Casa Restaurant, located at 5652 Van Buren, Riverside, CA. Officers were dispatched to the scene and discovered a male Hispanic gunshot victim inside the restaurant. The 18-year old victim was pronounced dead at the scene. A witness transported a second male Hispanic gunshot victim, age 21, to Parkview Community Hospital, where he was stabilized and then transported by ambulance to Riverside Community Hospital where he underwent surgery and is listed in stable condition.

Riverside Police Department investigators and forensic technicians are conducting an investigation. Initial statements indicate that the suspect walked into the restaurant to the table where the victims sat and began shooting. The suspect then fled in a late model Toyota pick-up that has been recovered. The suspectís whereabouts are unknown at this time. Investigation is continuing.

The names of the victims are being withheld pending further investigation and notification of next of kin.
