Riverside, Ca- Kids will face off with cops on the court, matching basketball skills for National Night Out, in a rematch of a successful community event RPD players and their young competitors have enjoyed for more than a decade.

The Riverside Police Department has been participating in National Night Out since 1996. National Night Out is a nationwide crime and drug prevention event bringing police and neighborhoods together for a night of socializing and fun.

Along with other National Night Out events sponsored by the Riverside Police Department, including the “Neighborhood Leaders to National Heroes” event on Saturday, August 4, at Riverside Municipal Airport, the Riverside Police Department and City of Riverside Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department proudly presents the annual “Cops vs. Kids” basketball game. This free event will also have a short basketball clinic, sponsored and staffed by members of the UCR Highlanders Men’s Basketball Team, as well as a 3-Point and Free-Throw contest, sponsored by the Hunt Park Advisory Group. There will be various police vehicles, displays and information booths, as well as free popcorn, snow cones, and souvenir items.
