Man dies from fall

Riverside, Ca- On June 3, 2007, at approximately 9:50AM, the Riverside Police Department received a call from a motorist advising that the body of a deceased male was lying in the traffic lane of 5th street on the West side of the Marriot Hotel which is located at 3400 Market Street. The motorist said that it appeared that the body might be that of a victim of a past vehicular hit and run. Police officers and paramedics from the City of Riverside arrived and confirmed that a male who appeared to be in his forties was deceased from traumatic injuries that appeared to be sustained from a fall from the West side of the hotel.

The preliminary investigation indicates that there were no eye witnesses to the incident. One person who was in the area at about the time of the incident reported hearing a loud sound they described as a body striking the ground.

The deceased was found to be a registered guest at the hotel and a vehicle registered to him was parked in the parking lot. The preliminary investigation indicates that the incident was most likely a suicide. The investigation is ongoing by both the Riverside Police Department and the Riverside County Coronerís Office.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld at this time pending notification of the next of kin by the Riverside County Coronerís office.
