Update: Kidnapping For Ransom Investigation

Riverside, Ca- One suspect was arrested last night for kidnapping a Riverside woman. Mark Herbert WARREN, 47, of Victorville, was booked into Riverside Countyís Robert Presley Detention Center, on charges of kidnap for ransom, burglary, assault with great bodily injury and extortion. Overnight, Riverside Police Detectives served search warrants at the suspectís residence in Victorville and at a local Riverside motel where the suspect had been staying. Evidence was seized at both locations. The active investigation continues to follow an array of leads.

The Riverside Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are investigating the kidnapping for ransom of a 57-year-old Riverside woman from her home on Prince Albert Drive in the Canyon Crest neighborhood of Riverside. The abduction occurred around noon on Wednesday, March 21. Riverside Police became aware of the kidnapping and the ransom demand delivered to her husband around 2 p.m.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., a concerned citizen in the unincorporated Lake Hills area near the Riverside-Corona border reported suspicious activity around a nearby vehicle to the Riverside County Sheriff. A white van was parked on a side driveway near a water tower on Lake Pointe Drive. Responding sheriff's deputies discovered the kidnap victim being held in the van against her will. She was freed and was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries incurred during the abduction. Suspect Warren was arrested at the scene.
