Fatal Traffic collision

Riverside, Ca- On May 21, 2007 at 2:39 am, members of the Riverside Police and Fire Departments responded to a major injury traffic collision on Jefferson near Cleveland.

Twenty-eight year-old Nicole Torrez of Perris was driving a 2004 International Tow Truck northbound on Jefferson approaching Cleveland. A 31 year-old male passenger had reportedly crawled out of the open passenger window and was standing on the window frame in an attempt to fix something on the truck. The driver lost control and struck a curb, ejecting the passenger.

Emergency personnel located the male on the shoulder of the roadway near the orange groves. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for felony DUI and driving on a suspended license.

The Riverside Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) responded to the scene and the collision is under investigation.
