Young girls assaulted during evening walk
Juvenile suspect in custody

Riverside, Ca- Three young Riverside sisters taking an evening walk were attacked Tuesday night by a male youth who was later identified as a neighborhood boy with a mental disorder. The youth was located and arrested.

The three girls, ages 8, 10 and 12, were walking in the vicinity of Via Vista and Shakespeare Drive, near Castleview Park in the Canyon Crest area of Riverside. Just before 7 p.m., the girls were approached by a youth wearing a tee-shirt and pajama bottoms who lifted one of their dresses. The girls pushed the boy away. He then pushed one of the girls to the ground and sexually assaulted her with his hand. The girls fought him off and he fled the scene. The boy said nothing.

Five Riverside Police officers, including a Detective and a Sergeant responded to the scene and began a canvass of the neighborhood. The suspect was discovered asleep at a nearby group home at about 9 p.m. The 15-year-old male was arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall for sexual assault.
