Sewers, Stormdrains & Wastewater Treatment

Plumbing and Sewer Maintenance

Did you know that all household plumbing is attached to a main lateral line? This line carries the waste from your house to the city's sewer line. Care and maintenance of the house lateral line is the responsibility of the resident. When this line becomes plugged, call a plumber for maintenance and repair.

Preventative maintenance for household plumbing is essential to keep household waste flowing. Preventative Maintenance

  • Maintenance products (Drain-O, Liquid Plumber, etc.) are available and should be used on a regular basis to avoid build up of soap scum, hair and grease in your traps.

  • Never pour kitchen grease down the drain. Put it in a container and dispose of it in the trash.

Manholes

The large manholes in the street belong to the city. The city inspects, cleans, maintains and repairs these lines. All sewage is carried by these lines to the RWQCP for treatment and recycling to the Santa Ana River.
