Public Utilities

Riverside, Calif. – Riverside Public Utilities honored local student artists Angelica Ayala and Stephanie Chang as the winners of their 2012 Bottled Water Label Art Contest.

Ayala is beginning her senior year at La Sierra High School, while Chang, who graduated from Martin Luther King High School in June, is now studying Anthropology at University of California, Santa Cruz.

Each student took home prizes of $250, a copy of their label art work, and bottled water with their artwork featured. Their teachers, Bill Miller of La Sierra, and Linda Anthony of King, were awarded $50 gift certificates to a local art supply store for encouraging their students to participate in the 14th annual contest.

RPU hosts the art contest each year to encourage Riverside high school artists to use their creative skills to come up with designs that will be used on bottled water that is distributed to Riverside schools through the Utility’s “Splash Into Cash” bottled water fundraiser program.

More than 32,950 bottles were distributed to 32 Riverside schools through the Splash Into Cash program this year, each feature one of the unique designs created by Riverside’s student artists each year. This year’s winning entries, as well as past winning label artwork can be viewed online at:
