The Raincross Master Chorale will take listeners on a journey through opera and film favorites at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 15 at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 4495 Magnolia Ave., Riverside. Tickets are $15, with a discount for seniors and veterans. This concert includes “May it Be,” the theme from the film “Lord of the Rings,” Over the Rainbow from Wizard of Oz and “Everything I Know” from In the Heights by Lin Manuel Miranda. The opera portion features “Pilgrims Chorus” from Tannhauser, the Anvil Chorus from Il Trovatore and the Drinking Song from The Student Prince. The final song on the program is “Before the Parade Passes By,” from the musical Hello Dolly. The lyrics are especially appropriate for a post pandemic world. The chorale will share the stage with two young singers who have been awarded college scholarships for their music studies, Kimberly Benavides and Bella Rodriguez. They will each offer a solo during the concert. This concert includes a drawing for gift baskets full of gifts and goodies.
