Angelita Romero Series: An Evening of Vocal Music from the Spanish Renaissance and Beyond

Walter Aaron Clark, coordinator

An Evening of Vocal Music from the Spanish Renaissance and Beyond: Sephardic, Arabic, and Christian Traditions
This concert celebrates the diverse cultural legacy of Spain from the Renaissance to the twentieth century, focusing on vocal works reflecting the heritage of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam on the Iberian Peninsula. Colombian soprano Patricia Caicedo graces our stage once again performing a selection of twentieth-century Sephardic songs by various composers, accompanied by our very own Gary Barnett on piano. The program continues with the UCR Chamber Singers interpreting a wide variety of sacred and secular masterpieces with Latin, Spanish, Ladino, and even Arabic lyrics. Prof. Rogerio Budasz will provide accompaniment on the vihuela.
