    Current Situation

(Recent updates are posted at the top of the Current Situation)

The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of a single-family dwelling structure fire in the 2300 block of 12th Street on the East Side. Upon arrival Riverside City Firefighters were confronted with a well-established fire in a single-family dwelling. Due to the heavy fire involvement, Riverside Firefighters were forced to take a defensive stand on the burning structure and protect exposures on the sides and back of the structure. The Incident Commander requested an additional two engine companies to the scene to assist with fighting the fire, as well as an AMR unit for standby. The fire was placed under control in about 40 minutes, with firefighters remaining at the incident to mop-up for a little over two hours. Although not a total loss, the building was heavily damaged and uninhabitable. Due to the rapid fire growth, the City of Riverside Fire Department’s Arson Investigation Unit was called to the scene to investigate, and the investigation is ongoing. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries during the incident
