Current Situation
On January 13, 2025, The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a vegetation fire in the area of E. Alessandro Blvd and Sycamore Canyon. The first arriving unit arrived and found a pepper tree and .25 acres burning at a slow rate of spread at Sycamore Canyon Park. Crews made a quick attack on the fire, and it was contained at .25 acres. While extinguishing hots spots, the area was identified as a homeless encampment. The on-duty fire investigator arrived and searched the area and the cause and origin. The cause of the fire was undetermined but most likely human related. Fire department crews remained on scene for 1 hour to mitigate any remaining hazards. There were not any civilian or firefighter injuries reported.
