    Current Situation

(Recent updates are posted at the top of the Current Situation)

The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of an aircraft down in the area of Gaylord and Stover, in Ward 7.  The first arriving engine company reported finding a small, single engine aircraft down in a dirt field just east of Gaylord.  The plane was approximately 500’ from any homes or roads.  Three adults had been on the plane, and all were out and walking around.  Two of the passengers reported minor injuries and one was transported by ambulance for further evaluation.

The plane’s pilot reported he took off from Riverside Airport and quickly began having engine trouble.  He could not safely return to the airport and had to perform an emergency landing in the field.  The plane sustained significant damage.  Notifications were made to the NTSB and FAA.  The owner is currently working on arrangements to have the plane removed and relocated to a hangar in Chino where the NTSB will conduct an investigation.
