    Current Situation

(Recent updates are posted at the top of the Current Situation)

The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of a female hiker fallen in the 4600 block of Challen Avenue, at Challen Park. The first due Rescue Squad arrived to find a female hiker that had fallen approximately 300 feet up from the entrance to the park. Firefighters on the Squad Company recognized that the location of the victim was going to pose challenges. Two additional Engine Companies, and a Battalion Chief responded to assist. They then climbed up the hillside to begin treating and stabilizing the female patient’s injuries which included a leg injury. As additional resources arrived, they ascended the hill to assist with placing the patient in a rescue litter. Riverside Firefighters worked together to safely bring the patient off the hillside. The patient was transported in moderate condition to an area hospital.
