Current Situation
The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a possible structure fire. Upon arrival we found a two story single family dwelling with smoke coming from the garage. The occupants were outside attempting to put the fire out. The fire was in the laundry room inside the house. The access to the house was secured to stop the extension of any fire or smoke production. The bystanders extinguished most of the fire with a garden hose prior to arrival. The bystanders also secured the electrical and gas to the residence. The first in engine company investigated and found a fire still burning inside the dryer. They extinguished the fire and checked for extension. The smoke was cleared from the residence and an all clear was given after the search for any occupants.
The fire started in the dryer shortly after the occupant started to dry clothes after they were washed. The occupant stated she smelled smoke and saw a small fire inside the dryer from the right corner. The cause was accidental faulty dryer.
