    Current Situation

(Recent updates are posted at the top of the Current Situation)

    Update #3

The vegetation fire has been contained to 38 acres. Crews are continuing to work hard to ensure everything is fully secured, with 100 % mop-up underway along the perimeter lines. Currently, we have three Riverside City fire engines and one Chief Officer committed for mutual aid. The City of Riverside Fire Department crews are perfoming tactical patrol along the bike path and the neighborhoods that are adjacent to the incident area.  You may notice dust and drift smoke in the neighborhoods around Julian, DiMaggio, and Idyllwild. Updates to follow.

Air resources have been released, and crews will remain on scene throughout the night and into the morning to conduct extensive mop-up operations in the heavy fuels.

    Update:

The fire has been mapped at 38 acres with a slow rate of spread. Crews continue to make progress on perimeter control. A water-dropping helicopter is on scene, conducting bucket drops to support ground efforts.

Fire personnel have confirmed there are no spot fires on the Riverside City side. As a precaution, additional resources remain staged in neighborhoods north of Jurupa Avenue under the supervision of a City Battalion Chief. There continues to be no threat to the City of Riverside. Station coverage continues to be maintained.

The City of Riverside is assisting Riverside County Fire Department with a vegetation fire in the Riverbottom near Van Buren and the bridge. The fire is approximately 5 acres and burning within county jurisdiction. The city has deployed a total of seven resources to assist, while station coverage is being maintained using overstaffed "wind event" resources.

There is currently no threat to the City of Riverside. However, drift smoke is impacting communities north of Jurupa Avenue. A wireless alert has been broadcasted to affected neighborhoods, informing residents of the drift smoke, and confirming there is no fire threat.
