Current Situation
At approximately 1620 Hours this afternoon the City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a reported vegetation fire on the 4800 Block of Commerce St. in the City of Riverside. The first arriving unit reported a fire approximately ¾ of an acre burning in light flashy fuels near the railway easement. The officer in charge requested that the tracks be shut down to all rail traffic prior to attempting to extinguish the fire. Once the tracks were secure firefighters proceeded to extinguish the fire, keeping the size to approximately one acre. Crews remained on scene for about an hour to overhaul the fire area. Fire investigators were on scene and have identified a person of interest related to the fire. No fire personnel nor civilians were injured as a result of this incident.
