Current Situation
The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 7800 block of Cypress Ave. Upon arriving on scene the first engine reported a small vacant commercial building with light smoke showing. The first due engine company extinguished the fire after gaining access through an open front door. The building was checked for any extension of fire into the attic space of which there was none. The fire was contained to a box containing clothing and miscellaneous other personal Items. The fire appeared to have been intentionally set. An attempt to contact the property owner was made to no avail Building and safety, Code Compliance Fire Investigators, and Fire Prevention were notified to secure the building. The building was taped off for hazard reduction and all fire department units were released back to their respective quarters.
