Current Situation
The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of a vegetation fire in the area of Hole Lake, off Doolittle Dr. Units arrived on scene to find an approximately 1/4-acre fire burning in heavy brush and bamboo. Access was difficulty and units had to relocate to the west side of Hole Lake to engage in fire suppression. A brush engine and water tender were requested to assist the operation. Crews were able to place hose lines in service and engaged in perimeter control. The forward progress was stopped, and overhaul operations began. Overhaul was extensive due to the heavy fuels involved. The cause of the fire was undetermined after investigation, however, the area has heavy homeless activity and we have responded to multiple fires in the same area in the past. No firefighter injuries were reported.
