Current Situation
At 0131 Hours the City of Riverside Fire Department was dispatched to a traffic collision on the freeway. The Riverside Fire and Police dispatch was able to utilize the CHP website to determine there was a need for extrication and immediately responded a truck company, Battalion Chief and additional AMR unit. The first arriving unit found two vehicles with major damage, and both requiring extrication of the occupants. A rescue squad which is also equipped with extrication equipment along with Rescue 3 and two additional ambulances were dispatched at that time. A total of four patients were treated, two of which had major injuries. All four were transported to local hospitals. The cause of the accident appears to be a wrong way driver.
