Current Situation
The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of a subject dangling from a bridge overpass at the intersection of Iowa and Citrus. Upon arrival of the 1st due Engine Company, the Captain immediately requested a Truck Company to assist due to the height of the bridge. The approximately 40-year-old female was clinging to a chain-link fence while standing on a small ledge on the outside of the bridge. Riverside City Firefighters deployed the aerial ladder approximately 40 feet up to the female subject. A firefighter paramedic from T1 ascended the ladder and secured the subject with a safety belt while Riverside Police Department Officers on the top of the bridge worked to keep the frightened female calm. With the subject secured to the ladder, she was walked down the ladder to safety with the assistance of the Riverside City Firefighter Paramedic. Although she appeared unhurt, the female subject was transported to an area hospital for evaluation
