Current Situation

On January 10, 2025, The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a brush fire reported at Martha McLean-Anza Narrows Park near the Santa Ana River.  The first due engine arrived and reported amount moderate of smoke coming from the Santa Ana River area.  Fire crews made access and found a fire at a homeless encampment on an island, the fire spread to nearby vegetation.  It was also determined that the fire occurred in the Riverside County jurisdiction.  The incident was transferred to Cal Fire upon their arrival and once the fire was extinguished, Riverside City Fire units were released from the scene.  The cause of the fire was determined human caused and related to the homeless encampment.  There were not any civilian or firefighter injuries reported.
