Current Situation
The city of Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of a possible structure fire in the 1800 block of Loma Vista Street. Upon arrival, Firefighters found a fire to the rear of a single-story apartment complex. The fire was burning in grass and debris as well as an awning. Heat from the fire ignited a truck parked close to the fire. Riverside City Firefighters deployed attack lines to protect the structure and quickly knock down the fire. The fire destroyed an awning and some tools in the backyard, and damaged a pickup in the driveway, but the apartment complex was spared. Witnesses reported fireworks gong off in the area just before the fire. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries during the incident. As a reminder, fireworks are illegal in the City of Riverside, and pose a significant threat to property during the hot, dry weather.
