    Current Situation

(Recent updates are posted at the top of the Current Situation)

The City of Riverside Fire Department was dispatched to California Baptist University on May 27th for a possible structure fire.  The first arriving unit found smoke coming from a temporary theater being constructed in the quad of the James Building.  CBU security had taken action and used a fire extinguisher to put out the majority of the fire before our arrival, likely saving the entire structure.  Fire crews extinguished the remaining fire and took over the fire investigation.  The cause was undetermined, but most likely caused by electrical malfunction as the entire theater was under construction.  There were no injuries, and no further damage to the campus.
