Current Situation
The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire on Overland St. Upon arrival, fire crews found a fire working in an attached garage. Fire attack was initiated and the fire was quickly knocked down. The fire was contained to the garage area and did not extend into the home. The homeowner and his 11 year old daughter were in the home when the fire started, but safely escaped. Once outside, the 11 year old female began experiencing difficulty breathing. Fire department paramedics on scene assessed the female and AMR was requested. The patient began feeling better and the father decided to transport her to the hospital in his own vehicle. The cause of the fire was determined to be a discarded cigarette. There were no firefighter injuries.
