(Recent updates are posted at the top of the Current Situation)

On July 28, 2022, at 2:15 p.m., The City of Riverside Fire Department responded a first alarm structure fire assignment to the 4300 Block of Park Ave.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find a detached garage fully involved between two residences.  Firefighters performed fire attack and saved the two residential structures on either side of the detached garage.  The two residential houses suffered exterior fire damage.  Both structures remain habitable with no displaced residences.

One of the structures was vacant and was being occupied by transients.

There were no firefighter or civilian injuries.

One civilian in a passenger vehicle drove through the fire scene almost striking a firefighter.   The vehicle was stopped as it attempted to exit the fire scene by the Fire Department Arson Investigator and turned over to RPD.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
