Current Situation
The City of Riverside Fire Department is on scene on Van Buren X Jurupa in the Santa Ana River Bottom for an Adult Female stranded in the River Bottom on an island surrounded by water.
RPD Air One and RSO Rescue 9 is assisting the Riverside Fire Department for a hoist operation to remove the Adult Female from the island.
AMR ALS Ambulance is staging along with RPD assisting for traffic control.

The Riverside Fire Department responded to a request for medical aid in the river bottom area, near Van Buren. Firefighters arrived in the area and were directed to the patient's location by a bystander. The patient was found in a tent and in an encampment that had been cut off by rising waters from recent rains. She was in severe pain from an old injury and was unable to walk. Due to the patient's condition, there was no safe way to traverse the water and terrain. Riverside County Rescue 9 helicopter was requested to the incident. Ground personnel treated the patient and assisted with packaging her for rescue by hoist. The female patient was successfully rescued with assistance from RSO Rescue 9. She was flown to a landing zone at Van Buren and Jurupa where patient care was transferred to AMR. There were no injuries to firefighter’s or helicopter personnel.
