    Current Situation

(Recent updates are posted at the top of the Current Situation)

The City of Riverside Fire Department is on scene of a 4 acre vegetation fire that originated in Riverside County and burned into the City of Riverside.  Fire is holding at 4 acres.  Mutual

Aid being provided by CAL-Fire and San Bernardino County Fire.

    Final Update:

On Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at 5:39 p.m., The City of Riverside Fire Department responded a first alarm vegetation fire assignment to 5253 Tequesquite at the City Solar Farm Old Landfill for reports of a vegetation fire.  The fire was located within Riverside County just North of the Solar Farm in an area with heavy vegetation and several homeless encampments.  Firefighters began fire perimeter control and experienced several wind shifts compromising their hose line but remained effective.  The incident was upgraded to a total of three alarms from the city.  Firefighters were hampered by the lack of access points due to the fencing of the Solar Farm.

The fire burned into the City of Riverside.  A Cal-Fire response responded to the incident with a chief officer and five Type 1 engines from Cal-Fire. The fire was held to 2.5 acres.  Firefighters discovered the fire originating in a homeless encampment and a Medial Aid Assault of a homeless subject.  Firefighter Paramedics treated the homeless subject and AMR transported the patient to a local community hospital.  RPD responded security along with Riverside County Sherriff Deputies.

City of Riverside Fire Department Arson Investigator performed an investigation.  The fire cause is determined to be a homeless encampment fire.

    There were no firefighter injuries.

Firefighters will return back to the incident this morning to remove hose lines.
