Current Situation
The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a brush fire reported in the Santa Ana River near the 5000 block of Tequesquite. Fire department crews arrived in the area and found a working fire in the Santa Ana River moving at a slow rate of spread. Fire crews made an aggressive attack on the fire, and it was contained to a 50’ x 50’ area around an encampment. After investigating, it was determined that the fire was located in Riverside County Fire’s jurisdiction. One Cal Fire engine responded to the scene to assist with overhaul of the burned area. The cause of the fire was undetermined but likely human related. All fire resources have been released from the incident.
