    Current Situation

(Recent updates are posted at the top of the Current Situation)

On October 27, 2024, the City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a structure fire at the 1000 block of Spruce St.  The first unit arrived and reported a large Goodwill warehouse with heavy smoke coming from a commercial garbage compactor.  Fire department crews made an aggressive attack on the fire and confirmed there was not any involvement with the building.  The collection bin was removed from the compactor and the fire was extinguished quickly.  The cause of the fire was determined unintentional and was likely caused the mechanical compacting process.  There were not any civilian or firefighter injuries reported.
