Current Situation
The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a possible structure fire. Upon arrival we found light smoke coming from the whirly bird on the roof of a small, boarded up, single story single family residence. Crews made access into the property and found a small fire in the water heater closet. The fire ran the wall and charged the attic with smoke. The fire was extinguished and fire extension was checked. The residence was vacant and appeared under construction. A primary and secondary search was completed. The utilities were shut off. The fire investigation revealed that the fire possibly started by electrical but the cause is undetermined.
The property owner was contacted and in route from Los Angeles. Code Enforcement arrived and was going to handle securing the property with the owner. Public Utilities was requested to shut the power off to the residence. All units cleared the scene.
