    Current Situation

    The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a possible structure fire. The Riverside Communications Center advised of several reports to the 911 call center. In route to the incident a large column of smoke was seen. Upon arrival of the first in unit advised of an two story single family residence. The property was set back approximately 500 feet from the street. Crews made their way back to the fire and engaged in fire attack. The structure was broken into several different living spaces. The main floor living space was fully involved in fire. Fire attack was engaged and the fire destroyed most of the main living space. The crews extinguished the blaze.  

    The occupant was in her room and had to escape from the structure from her bedroom window. She was treated and refused any further medical attention. The occupants dog and bird succumbed to their injuries.

    Red Cross was requested for the displaced victims. They made contact via video messaging due to the COVID 19.

    The gas company was requested to secure the gas meter.

    Public Utilities was requested as the power was shut off, however there was multiple amounts of faulty wiring that still had power.

    A SAVE card was issued to the occupant of the residence.

    The investigation revealed a faulty plug to the window air conditioner.
