(Recent updates are posted at the top of the Current Situation)

FINAL – The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at the 1600 hundred block of Via Vista . Upon arrival, the 1st in fire engine found a working fire at the rear of the structure. Crews made an aggressive fire attack stretching hose lines to the rear of the structure and found a shed well involved that extended into the attic, 2nd floor and 1st floor of the two story single family dwelling. The cause of the fire, after the investigation, revealed that the occupant had fed his turtles in the back yard and accidentally threw hay on the heat lamp that keep his turtles warm. The cause was accidental in nature. The crews overhauled and check for fire extension.

The damage was enough that the family needed a place to stay and Red Cross was requested for two adults and four children.

A Save Card was issued to the occupants of the structure.

The homeowner was notified via phone call and a message was left.

The structure was turned over to the occupants.
